the Wedding of Claire & Dan

Back in May was the wedding of my dear friend Claire & Dan :)

It was great to have them back in Malaysia.

Most of my high school friends are all far away...

from kl-singapore-hk-australia-US-london!

So for Claire's wedding, we managed to have a mini reunion!

Friends came back from all over :)

I had the honor to make their wedding cakes/cupcakes. They wanted a whimsical feel to it with creamy buttercream topped with sugar balls which they brought back from the states!

That's Dan who caught the best fish in the sea!

We customized cupcake wrappers for them to look similar to their wedding invite :)

Arranged them on a 7 tier & oh boy don't they look so grand?

Wedding: Simple yet Elegant

This is my first wedding cupcake request which i did not assemble up on my own!

Basically, my customer requested for this order to be taken out of Penang and wondered if she'd be able to take them on her own and assemble it on her own! I thought about it... and my first instinct was, what if on the way, something happens to the decor? So i thought, if it's a simple design, it will not be too much of a trouble! Of course she has to be willing to take the risk as well!

Anyways, we finalized on a very simple yet elegant design which shd not give any problem regardless of how bumpy the journey may be. Packed everything separately together with the tiers for loan... Off it went!

Wedding Cake as Centerpiece!

Wan Chin & Wei Foong ties the knot! :)

They are such a sweet couple. Because they wont have the opportunity to wear traditional chinese costumes for their wedding, they requested it for their mini cake! And it is to be displayed on their main table!

Worked with 2 of my favorite vendors! Jason from floralsense created a beautiful main table set up and prepared some wine glasses for me to place the cake! While Kewynn from Whizart took these 2 pictures for me! :)

A Wedding Gift

I need to tell a little story. A very cute one. I received a few orders for the same date and later, I found out that... A is ordering for B who is getting married same day as her birthday. A is B's very good friend. B who have been quite stressed out with her wedding plans also placed an order but it's for their 1st wedding anniversary. B has been quite upset with how things does not go as she hoped it would.

A on the other hand... asked me to reject her order as she wants to surprise B and hopefully make up with all the not-so-happy encounter she's been going thru!

Then i found out... both of them are my juniors and i know who they are! LOL... all in all, everything worked according to A's plan. B had a great wedding and was very surprised with her birthday cake (cum wedding cake?) hehehe....

Congratulations again Millie! Here's a toast to you & ur *jap* hubby! May the both of you stay in love forever & grow old together! xoxox

My 1st Competition :)

Recently, I participated in a competition. My very first competition. I did not have much time to prepare for it because I was leaving for Australia. But motivated by the fact that I have always wanted to give mini wedding cakes a try... I did it, submitted and had very limited internet connection after that. I only had internet connection few days before the voting ends and was very surprised I was amongst the few who are in the lead! Hehehe... Overall it was a great experience! 

We are allowed to submit 2 entries per person. Here are mine :) 

Entry No. 1: Mr & Mrs

One of the challenge was for us to do a 'pair' mini cake... And this is my version of a 'pair'! This piece won 2nd Place! Yeah!

Entry No 2: The Reality of Marriage

This is kinda inspired by the fact that I was about to celebrate my 4 years wedding anniversary and seriously, to me, there's 2 inter-related sides to a marriage. In order to grow the relationship, both have gotta be ready to struggle and overcome all obstacles together. It's not all love and fairytale. By being able to overcome those obstacles together... your love will then continue to grow! And this, is a lifetime commitment. 

But that's what makes a marriage exciting, right? hehehe

This piece won 4th Placing! I was very happy both my submissions won :) Thanks to all who voted!
